Its been almost one month with my new Windows Phone 8 device. So i was thinking of sharing some goods, bads and odds. As you would be well around about its main features like SNS integration and tile UI so i am not digging them once again rather ill be going more deeper related to my hands-on experience.
Here's my goods ill be coming with bads and odds soon. Stay tuned
Starting with Goods. I'll be starting with main features you might be aware of then moving to not so popular features.
- User Interface: The tile interface with lots of beautiful tiles scrolling showing your updates appointments, SN, emails etc are simple a candy to look at.
- Application Quality: As you might be aware of WP 8 lacks many main stream apps most prominent of them are instagram and vine. So, you are dependent on 3rd party apps for workaround. Before i was bit reluctant about using them finally i decided to give 6sec (a unofficial Vine client) a try and to my surprise it was beautiful; well blended with metro UI, super smooth, videos were playing flawlessly. Same goes with unofficial instagram instance app. I am not sure whom to be given credit developers or the platform.
- Application Experience: If you have used apps like IMDB, yelp etc on other platform, then give a try of these apps on WP 8 you're going to love them even more on metro UI super smooth scrolling. Ya there are few disasters too ill come to then during bads.
- Pin to Start Screen: Yes, you can pin almost anything to start screen of your WP device. Let be a note from Evernote or your favourite restaurant on yelp, direction to your office every thing can be pinned. Pinned application shows you some beautiful animations with notifications and can be tapped to open them to take that part of app.
- Voice Control: Bing voice search may be not as good as competition but its evolving. It may be lacking many features then competition but it's as precise as any other app, or you can download "Ask-Zippy" from store for more features at less precision.
- You can open multiple instant of a single app and switch between then i.e you can open compose new and any inbox email, a sent item of same email account and switch between them with a flick. Comes handy when you want to type a number in compose new email window by looking at email account inbox of same account. This is also applicable for most of the apps.
- Excellent keyboard and text selection: Writing an email or a quick reply to a facebook message is simply amazing with precise on screen keyboard with word prediction and advance text selection, moving cursor with on keyboard copy and paste option.
